What's in a Name?

You may have noticed that our lawyers are referred to simply as "Senior Lawyers" and "Lawyers," while many law firms use a variety of embellished titles. It does not mean that our lawyers are any less qualified.

In Western Australia, the only regulated distinction is between a lawyer and a senior lawyer, with a senior lawyer having more than five years of post-admission experience.

Titles like "special counsel," "consultant," or "senior associate" lack real meaning and are often used by firms for internal promotions, marketing, or to justify higher billing rates. For instance, there is no standard for what qualifies someone to be called a "senior associate," as they could have been admitted just two days ago or two decades ago. By the same vein, we could call our lawyers "captain", "supreme" or "batman", it means nothing in terms of their experience and ability to practice law.

We chose to maintain transparency and simplicity for our clients, which is why we use only these two titles. This way, you can easily understand the level of experience your lawyer has. â€‹
